Who are we?

Baan Books (Thai for “House of Books”) was founded in 2024 upon one simple belief: access to books can change a life. That was certainly the case for the founder, Pei, who has sold over 7 million books with his book publishing company. Since books impacted his life so much, he wanted to extend access to all.We serve communities by building 500 book starter libraries in underserved areas all around Thailand.We also fundraise for school tuition, organize charity drives, fund teacher salaries, and provide holistic education (arts, music, physical fitness, vocational).We want to create sustainable infrastructure, not just a feel-good bandaid.

Our Goal: 100 Libraries in 10 Years

We are on a mission to create 100 libraries across Thailand in the next 10 years.In many Thai communities, schools lack even a basic reading corner. Children grow up without access to diverse, engaging books. Without books: literacy falls behind, curiosity shrinks, and opportunity narrows.Libraries change that trajectory, and we do it with some of the biggest book publishers, international schools, and non-profits in Thailand.

Our Impact

We expand thoughtfully, prioritizing long-term partnership and local leadership before scale.2026 roadmap: Currently building two new libraries in Q1 that will go to Mae Sot in collaboration with Sati TH to benefit rural and Burmese refugee communities.Later in Q2-3, we will begin to build three new libraries for rural areas of Thailand in collaboration with Teach for Thailand.Click here for updates, new libraries, and a more complete record of our work.
